Scandinavian Inspired Sutton Home

This project was for a couple moving away from the city. The home was originally clad in pine wood, which the clients found too heavy. They wanted the opposite effect, so a light and airy space.

With many travel artifacts to showcase, they were aiming for a gallery-like feel.
Inspired by Scandinavian homes and bohemian interiors, we used wide-plank hemlock to complete the cladding and coasted the whole space with diluted, light-grey, lime paint. The result was instantaneous!

Scandinavian design is a combination of simplicity, functionality, and comfort. Key features include white walls, large mirrors, minimal window coverings, wood floors, and cozy earth tone textiles.

Bohemian design is a free-spirited, laid-back approach reflective of nature. Bold patterns and bright colours are common for furniture and accents. Artcomposé opted for linear and industrial lighting and finishings, as well as a lime stucco fireplace.

There are many ways to leverage pine cladding. Research thoroughly, and perhaps live with it a bit beforehand, to determine whether painting is necessary.

Key project takeaway

Enhancing the light and serene vibe, we chose a flat-panel, modern kitchen.
We also transformed a hallway closet into an additional pantry with sliding barn door for quick, unobtrusive access.
The owners’ collection of artifacts and family souvenirs told a beautiful and authentic story, which we highlighted with the canvas we created. Travel mementos, family heirlooms, favourite books, or even rocks and driftwood from a nature walk, are simple ways to customize your living space.
